biography

with years of built-up inspiration from video game soundtracks and raised in a family of musicians, dayv began self-instruction on tuba around age thirteen, performing a solo feature within his first year on the instrument. during high school he earned honors as featured soloist, performed in the new jersey all-state symphonic band at the baton of composer robert w smith, the regional orchestra, and other select ensembles. he also had the privilege of touring the american southwest, england and paris with the 'all-american youth in concert' symphonic band, conducted by dr william silvester. a devoted student of computer science at the college of new jersey, he nonetheless performed with the tcnj wind ensemble, jazz ensemble on trombone, brass ensemble on euphonium and tuba, and wrote arrangements for his student brass quintet. here dayv minored in music theory, studying orchestration under avant-garde composer dr robert young mcmahan. while pursuing a degree in composition at uarts in philadelphia, dayv was a student of composers andrea clearfield, evan solot, norman david and rick hall, among others. he is a member of the audio engineering society, as well as the philadelphia chapter of the american composers' forum, receiving their young jazz composers award in the small ensemble category.

dayv has written arrangements and compositions for brass quintet, string quartet, young symphonic ensembles, jazz ensembles, solo piano, piano & voice, solo instrument with accompaniment, and chamber ensembles, in addition to songwriting and recording his own material. back up jackson completed production of their first album in late 2005, marking his first major project as producer, and sparking a new interest in audio. having recently completed the audio engineering program at the conservatory of recording arts and sciences, dayv is currently engineering for delaney bramlett, and lives at a home recording studio outside los angeles with 4 fellow conservatory graduates.
